Advice needed: Witch type of fileserver should use for 5 heavily CorelDraw users (files > 300MB)   That is Network, Raid config, harddisk Blade server or a
Normal HP DLxxx server etc.
What is best practice for this type of users, work only local and use the server as backup or is it possible to work on the network, without performance lost?
Thanks,

Depending on the hardware your best bet would be to host you os and page file on a single mirrored drive then for file storage have four hard drives (your choice of sizes depending on what you need) Raid them  with  1+0
For more on raid> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redundant_array_of_independent_disks
Next you should Format the disk with the allocation unit size of the disk at the highest possible 64 Kilobytes
For better streaming of large Files

Okay make sure every computer has Gigabit Network cards including the switches

Gigabit stuff> http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid7_gci212193,00.html
And if its going to be
Networked for remote access youre going to need high upload and download Go with Comcast.

Set The QOS to not reduce network usage to 80% which is windows default.
Hmm more on that at...

Oh and make sure no other silly service such as internet radio is running and  any other performance increases will be dependent on the hard drives used. Get 15,000 rpm Hard drives or solid sate drives
