Quickbooks service stops

I did not do the installation, but we have Quickbooks Pro 2008 setup on one server hosting the data files for multi-user access.  The users mostly access through Windows Server 2003 Terminal Services w/Citrix Presentation Server 4.

Every once in a while, they cannot open a file and if I go to the hosting server, the QuickbooksDB18 service has stopped running.

Any ideas?

Check your antivirus software, sometimes that will shut down services.  If the service stops every day or so I would turn off all related AV services to test.
If you cant do that I would then make sure to exclude the quickbooks installation directory completely.

Try loading the Quickbooks Database Server Manager on the file server and pointing it at the data file. Then minimise it thus leaving it running. What works like a dream for us :).

Not sure but I might have an installation issue.  I cannot start the Database Server Manager from the server desktop.  It appears to start, puts the icon down by the clock, but as soon as you hover over it to right click for a menu, the icon dissapears.  I'm thinking I should first try reinstalling it or move it to a different server for comparison.
