Assistance needed for configuration of 2nd user EMC DMX 800

We have acquired a 2nd user DMX 800. The service processor is connected and I now want to go through the configuration and create volumes to present to my ESX environment. I am looking for assistance in creating the volumes and presenting them, so that I can learn for myself. I've a lot of experience on the Clariion and CX range, but none on Symmetrix, so this is a good place to start.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Initial config of a Symm is done via a bin file (as you know). After that, you can use  Symmetrix Management Console, EMC Control Centre  or SymmCLI to add LUNs, set mappings and so on.

Unless you've got a 'tame' EMC person to hand, you'll need to engage EMC to set the bin file up. The service console functionality is password protected and those passwords are a pretty tightly guarded secret.

I already have an initial bin file loaded and I have full access to the SymWin service console to create a new bin file or modify the existing one.

As the moment, none of the FA ports on the directors will come online and I don't know the hex commands to enable them, so I am unable to discover the Symmetrix in SMC or ECC.

Looking for a list of the hex commands that I can use at the inline console to bring the Front End adapters (FA) online. Anyone care to help me out here?

Oops, I didn't realise that I couldn't offer to pay someone for their assistance. Sorry. Ok, I'll rephrase my offer.

If there is an EMC CE out there with DMX experience that would be interested in assisting me in presenting storage to VMware ESX hosts, then please contact me - dan at telemorphix period net

Points will be awarded to the person who helps me resolve this issue.

Thanks.

I found everything I needed to configure this Symmetrix from a contact elsewhere.
