We are going to attempt to develop some Blackberry apps for a customer using the VS.NET plug-in. This requires that the "MDS Runtime" be installed on the BB devices and that the server is running MDS services. The server is running the required service but my customer does not know how to tell if the MDS Runtime is in fact installed on their Balckberry devices.

I am an application developer but this would be my first attempt at developing for the Blackberry so please do not use acronyms or abbreviations in your answer or I may not understand. Thanks.

You should be able to use the BlackBerry Desktop Software and connect the phone to it.  In the applications list it should show you what applications are installed and if MDS runtime is already installed.

Also you can check it using the Applications list under Options-Advanced Options-Applications
