Yeah I've looked through those manuals. The problem is that no connection seems to be established when I plug in the serial cable. I start Hyperterminal, select COM1 and use the default settings... and then nothing ever happens. It just displays a white screen. Do you know if there's something I need to do in Hyperterminal to get the session started?

My company was just given a working HP 4108gl switch by our parent company. We reset the settings to factory default by using the hardware reset combo. Now when we plug into the serial port nothing comes up in Hyperterminal. I'm not sure if there's any other way to do the initial configuration. Does anyone have a suggestion to get the initial setup going?

Can't Access Menus After Resetting Facorty Defaults

A switch is a device that filters and forwards packets of data between LAN segments. Switches operate at the data link layer or the network layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model and therefore support any packet protocol.
