Cannot Open .mht Files in IE

When I try to open mht file all I get it html code.
I tried to repair the registry, repair windows, but no luck...looks the same after. Tried IE6 and IE7 , same. Outlook express is installed. I am using Outlook2007.
The only solution I see atm is reinstalling the OS...and I really want to leave it as the last solution.
In the solution below:
Try to apply that registry fix. This should set the file type settings for mhtml files to default.
http://exchange.elkom-plan.de/mhtmlfix.reg
The link is not working...
If you could post the right link again that would be great.
Thank you.

siltech--Perhaps the association for .mht files is not set properly.
The simplest way to fix the association  of .mht files is to right click on an .mht file|OpenWith|select the program desired (which probably is Internet Explorer though Word, Opera and some others will do)|OK.
If that works, right click on an .mht file|OpenWith|Choose Program (even if you already see Internet Explorer in the list)|highlight IE|check the box at the bottom left "Always use selected program..."|OK.

sramesh2k and jcimarron:
I checked it, its IE.
I ran windows repair and cleaned the registry..same problem.
Installing/uninstalling IE 6/7 didnt resolve it.
I saw a registry fix on one of your pages with the same problem, but the link is not working. The guy said it fixed his problem.
http://exchange.elkom-plan.de/mhtmlfix.reg
asI already stated in my original post ....
Plz make the link work, I think it will fix it.

Thank you.

I have seen several users who had this problem. They were able to resolve it by one of the following methods:

1) Make sure you install the latest Windows Updates. Use Custom, not Express, to ensure you see all of the available updates.

2) Re-install Outlook Express. There is an update available from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=86B68A78-F325-4A95-98C2-98AF2256CCC3&displaylang=en

3) If none of the abvoe works re-install IE7. Take these steps:
   a) Install Firefox. This is only temporary but you will need a browser on your computer after you remove IE7.
   b) Uninstall IE7.
   c) REBOOT
   d) Download and install IE7:

siltech--Is your problem limited to opening one specific .mht file or all .mht files?
If just the one file, it would seem the problem is with the file.  Do you have friends that can open it properly?
What happens if you open IE to a blank page (open a new instance of IE, then IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab| Use Blank-- (You may have to close and reopen IE)--Then right click drag and drop that .mht file into the blank IE screen?
I am surprised that neither sramesh2k's nor my suggestions have helped.  While I am not optimistic you could also try IETools|Internet Explorer|Advanced tab|Reset button.
BTW--That elcom-plan.de link seems pretty dead.  They perhaps are having Certificate problems.  And there is no other source of mhtmlfix.reg that I can find.

siltech--Did you try dragging and dropping an .mht file into an IE screen?  (It is not necessary that it be a blank IE window.  Any one, even this one, will do.

Since nothing that was mentioned above worked, I had to reinstall the OS.
Thank you for the help guys.
