Selecting tree node with NavigateURL

I have a treeview on my master page with each node displaying a specific child page. The selected node dos not show selected if i supply a navigateurl as it does not remember this value on reload (caused by the navigateurl) I'm trying to solve this by supplying the navigateurl in the value for the node.

On the selectednodechange i can now save the selectedvaluepath in a session variable. How do i now redirect to the known child page?

thx
