I have a new mac book pro that is running 10.5.3 and I have been trying to get my CAC card and CAC card reader to work so i visit my .mil sites. Does anyone have any ideas why Safari or Firefox won't recognize my CAC card. When i launch VM Fusion and run windows XP the card reader and card work as they are supposed to. Of course I had to install software for it to work but it does work. I thought I had read that MAC includes the middle ware for CAC support. Can someone help me get this card working?

griffinss,

I'm having the identical problem with 10.5.3 but have been unable to use the CAC in either Firefox or Safari to access DOD OWA even after applying the accepted solution here.  Can you clarify or elaborate what actually worked for you?

Note: My CAC reader is recognized by the Keychain app but in the Keychain list, I only have "X509 Anchors" as an option, not "X509 Certificates".  Did you see the same?

Thanks. T.C.

I had to use Firefox and install the DoD certificates. Once that was installed it worked once I followed all the steps. Including flashing the CAC Reader.
