External Stylesheets not loading when editing in Contribute

I am generating pages in Contribute based on a master template created in Dreamweaver. When I include my external stylesheets in the 'editable' section within the <head> tags, they are not loaded when editing in Contribute.

They DO load if they are inlcuded in the 'non-editable region of the master template.

The problem is that I need them to be in the editable region so that I can change them on a 'per section' basis throughout my site.

I haven't been able to find any information relating to this issue.

Are you using a relative path, full path, or URL in there?

I'm using a full path. So it starts at the web root.

But that shouldn't make a difference I don't think, considering the styles are loaded if moved 'out' of the editable region in the header.

I've also tested just including one stylesheet and using @import to grab the rest.

The same behavior occurs.

It works when placed in the non-editable region, but not in the editable.
