The address list could not be displayed
whenever i hit the TO: link i get the message
The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened
It then opens the 'Select names' dialog I can then click on 'show names from' and this presents a drop down with a whole series of address books i have never seen before. Whe I click on 'Contacts' in the list , this then gives me all my names.
Also strange is, when I start to type an email address a list of email addresses will appera based on my first few chrs but I see in this list, names that are no longer in my contacts (i deleted them). How can they still appear??

For the names that display, that is because they are what we call "cached". To 'clear out' the old names in your cache, you can do 1 of 2 things. 1. You can type the first couple/few characters of the email of the expired users, move your arrow key down to select the expired name/email address and then press the delete key; OR 2. you can delete the .NK2 file. This file holds all cache information. You can delete it and Outlook will recreate it. You will lose all your name information when you type in the TO: field, but it will repopulate as you send emails to those people again.
To delete this .NK2 file, use the procedures in this link:
