Need Server Set Up Advice

My application uses PHP and MySQL

Although I've been careful to set up my database and PHP code to be normalized and efficient yada yada, I'm well aware that code/DB tuning can end up being meaningless as your user base grows if your server infrastructure is not set up well. Since I am hoping my site will one day be very big, I've been particularly interested in using MySQL Cluster.

I recently asked the host that I've been working with if they would let me run MySQLCluster on their machines, and they said no. I've looked around a bit and haven't found one, so I thought I'd ask here.

My main question is: Do you know of any server hosts out there that allow one to run MySQL Cluster on their machines?

My follow up question, is if you have any general advice on setting up a scalable server. I see running my own servers as a bad idea for a few reasons, but if you have any advice to the contrary, please let me know.

Thanks!

By the time you need a MySQL cluster, you don't use a host.  You use rackspace from a company.  A MySQL cluster means that you have multiple different machines operating as MySQL servers for your application.

So if you can still be handled by a hosting company, then you don't needa MySQL cluster.  If your performance is slow, then either your current host just stinks or your DB design is suboptimal.
