*****MISSION CRITICAL*******

I am in the middle of doing my first Swing IT migration.  I stopped yesterday evening and came in this morning and Exchange is COMPLETELY GONE!!!!  I do have a tape backup, problem is it's a little over 3 days old.

Is there anything else I can do to restore it?!

It depends on how you performed the backups. Please check this link that describes step by step an exchange restore:

Unfortunately there was just a tape backup made with Backup Exec.  When I try that method, there are no jobs or files that were backed up that way. The database and all the files are there, it's just that in the exchange store there is nothing.  This all seemed to happen after the new server was plugged in.  I think it took over as the domain controller, but it doesn't have Exchange on it yet.

Does the Exchange server still shows up in the add remove programs? If not, an Exchange installation would be required before the recovery.

I didn't see it in either the windows tools, or the regular program list.  So now that i have to reinstall, how do I keep my existing databases and everything in tact?  This all happened because of the new server.  I plugged it in to early to the network using Swing Migration. Any other suggestions????

Is there anyway to just transfer the existing database and everything over to the new server?
