What is the best way to remove flv ready for garbage collection in action script 3?

If you're simply using an FLVPlayback component, then:

removeChild(vid);
vid = null;

If the instance name of the FLVPlayback is called vid.

How about if you are using netstream? How do you remove it for garbage collection?

Same way.  

Stop your NetStream, then ns = null;
