Hi Sharath

WSUS gives the option as to where you want to install the updates. You can either have them downloaded from Microsoft Update every time they are required, or they are stored locally on the server and downloaded direct from the server to the client workstations.

Here's some more information to get you up to speed with WSUS update storage locations: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/957a1ec6-4c55-4cb3-8dbd-b8d05f63320d1033.mspx?mfr=true

I missed the second part: I would recommend you do a sync of WSUS once a day. You should leave it on automatic sync, so it can do it during the middle of the night where there isn't much load on WSUS or the server.

Do a search on the server for the WSUSContent folder. Wherever that folder is located, you will find all the downloaded updates and patches inside it.

Yes, all the updates you selected to download will be stored in that folder. That acts as WSUS's storage location if you like, before it distributes them to the workstations.

The actual EXE files are organised by WSUS, with a track of each file being kept in the WSUS database. You can't change that default location, and it is very difficult to actually retrieve the patches from WSUSContent to install manually - because WSUS tracks them by itself.

There will be some .CAB files and .EXE files in there. Do a search just in the WSUSContent folder for CAB and you should get some of the patches come up.
