Scanning problem with HP printer on Vista 64-bit

I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate x64 and have a problem with the HP Deskjet 3055 All in One. The printing works fine but the scanning (both from the feeder and the flatbed) mostly returns the error "Scanning error: Cannot connect". Why i say mostly is because when scanning on a low setting, 150dpi for example, it 'rarely' succeeds in scanning the document, but if it is scanning at say 300dpi the scan will either give the error or a quater of the page will come through.

This problem happens on Adobe Acrobat 8.1 Pro, Scan to PDF and Windows Fax and Scan. I have checked to ensure that the dirvers are correct and I have been to the HP support website to locate software for Vista x64 but with no luck:

Any help would be appreciated.
