Blocking External Proxy Servers

Hi, wonder if you can help me.

at our sites, we run Microsoft ISA 2006 which we have set to block url's such as webmail, social networking sites and so forth.

However, some of our staff have been chatting and found that they can bypass pretty much all of our security by using external proxy servers. On googling, I found a site which advertises 524,000+ proxy servers by IP address and hostname.

Is there a way that we can stop these proxy servers from being accessed? Or is ISA not capableof performing this task?

Any help would be appreciated.

We had the same problem.  You will need to invest in a good URL filtering product/appliance such as SurfControl or BlueCoat.

ISA Server alone can't do this for you but the SurfControl ISA plug-in can do it for you.  There are other products in this space e.g. WebSense and they all have their good points so perhaps do some research on the strengths and costs of the competing products.

Cheers,

TCP
