Problems

We had a total system failure this past weekend on Exch 2003 box...

We built new box in /DistasterRecover mode... restored from tape...
Everything was working fine... now today all of the sudden certain users are not getting messages.

We see with advanced logging..
The following call : EcLocallyDeliverMsg to the store failed. Error code : -1605

and

The following call : EcLocallyDeliverMsg to the store failed. Error code : -2147221240

We selected one user.. exported one user (exmerge)... deleted the mailbox... recreated and imported...

Still have the same problem...

Can anyone advise what is going on here... ?

The problem is most likely Database corruption from the restore. I would check it out using some tools

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924206

that should help you confirm is your database is good.

It is...

Question for you...

two options here..

I am going to bring up a new server and move the mailboxes to this new server.. I can either do this with exmerge or I can use the move mailbox wizard.

I would like to not have to touch the clients so I thought I would bring up a new server named the same thing use the /DisasterRecovery install method... if I do this then the profiles dont have to be touched because the server name will be the same.  If I change the name of the server what will happen to my client profiles if I use the move mailbox wizard?  Will their profile move over automatically or will I have to touch all the clients?

Thanks
found this..

Looks like the profile will update itself according to this....
Now the question is since the database is corrputed will a Move Mailbox fix the problem for me or does an exmerge need to be done into the clean db?

Seems like a move into a clean db or an exmerge either would accomplish the same thing...
yes if you just install exchange onto a new server and move the users using the migrate wizard the users will not have to do anything except close and restart outlook.  this is probably your best solution
