Outlook 2007 won't connect to Exchange 2003

I have just installed Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3 on a new HP laptop running Office 2007.  I set the mail account up to connect to a 2003 Exchange server.  A day later and I can't connect to the Excahnge server.  No changes have been made since making the initial connection to set the mail up.

chek if the firewall have been reactivated by one of microsoft patch

Set Outlook to 'Use Cached Exschange Mode' and haven't had a problem since.
