How to create restart.txt for restart ruby_rails?

And to run touch #{current_path}/tmp/restart.txt

to restart?

How are you deploying your application?  Mix that command into that process, probably after you checkout the latest version of code.

i dont now anything about ruby or rails...but i have good programming knowledge in shell scipting..

kindly advice me how to proceed ...

searching internet i couldn't find out how to do and what to do..

this method of restarting the application is completely new to me ..

so give me the elaboration..

Well, if you're using the mod_rails setup, you can restart the webserver by creating a restart.txt file.  So, presumably you're going to be making changes to your software and putting them out on your website. When you do that, you'll need to restart the server.

Now, if you're using software that doesn't need a restart, like a blog, then you probably don't need to worry about that.

Is this software you're writing or something you got from somewhere else that you're setting up for your use?

I am not understanding what software ur talking about .i only know there is a website working in my production server.If there any software ( what is the use) how to check that ?

I only know there is a website in production server. Which goes down frequently. In that case i need to restart the application ( i dont know which application it is). But the document which the client given me have this script. And client says i need to regenarate restart.txt and touch restart.txt to resart the application to make the website comes up. Please help me regarding this...
