What version of RightFax are you using?

These documents should work for any 8.X server.  It just tells you what files to move.  I am assume you know how to install, get a license bump from Tech Support, get the printer installed, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks

Use your own drive letters below....D:\RightFax is the installation location.

1.      Create a Backup Directory on the D Drive  D:\Backup
2.      Navigate to the D:\RightFax directory
3.      Copy the following files/directories to the D:\Backup Directory
a.      D:\RightFax\Database\FaxData.* (do not need the files from the backup directories)
b.      D:\RightFax\Image
c.      D:\RightFax\FCS
f.      D:\RightFax\RFBoard ACTLOG.DAT
4.      If you have access to the system select Start -> Run
a.      Type Regedit
b.      Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RightFAX\Boardserver\LCRRouteTable and export this key to the D:\Backup directory on the RightFax 8.5 Server that you are backing up.
5.      Move the D:\Backup Directory to a Secure Location for Server Rebuild

Manual Restore Procedures if Batch File NOT USED
1.      Copy or Restore the D:\Backup directory to the Server
2.      Navigate to the D:\RightFax directory
3.      Copy the following files/directories to the D:\Backup Directory
a.      D:\RightFax\Database\FaxData.* (do not need the files from the backup directories)
b.      D:\RightFax\Image
c.      D:\RightFax\FCS
f.      D:\RightFax\RFBoard ACTLOG.DAT
g.      Run LCRRouteTable.reg to import routing codes from the old server
4.      Run KeyBuild Utility on Database
a.      Open command prompt
b.      CD to D:\RightFax\Database
c.      Execute:     keybuild faxdata
5.      Run the Rescue Utility from D:\RightFax\Database\Rescue.exe
a.      Open Cmd Prompt

after research i have put together this document.
Phase 1
This will take place on a weekend.
Step 1: Contact Captaris support and ask for 30 day serial for migration purposes.
Step 2: Physically Install Brooktrout fax board model# TR1034+P4-4L-R into NT07.
Step 3: Install RightFax 9.3 on NT07
Step 4: Install update 2 for RightFax 9.3

Phase 2
This will be done on the following weekend
Step 1:  Stop the 8.0 Rightfax Services on NT05 and
Step2:  On NT05 print or make a copy of the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
Software\
If you have the Docs-on-Demand Module, go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RightFax\Boardserver\FOD. Save the FOD key in a safe location
Step 3: Change to the \RIGHTFAX\DATABASE directory then run DBCHECK -A FAXDATA to check for any corruption on the 8.0 database on NT05
Step 4:  Stop all RightFax services on NT07.Create a temp folder on NT07 and extract resucue.zip file to it.

Step5:  Copy all Faxdata.*** files from the Rightfax\Database directory to the temp directory on NT07.
Step 6:  Launch Rescue.exe and select the option 'Upgrade 7.x and 8.0 servers
Step 7: Copy FAXDATA files from the temp directory  on NT07 to RightFax\Database\ directory on NT07
Step 8: Copy the following files from NT05 to NT07
\RightFax\Image\*.* --
\RightFax\Fcs\*.* If you have created custom cover sheets
\RightFax\Papers\*.* If you have created overlay forms
\RightFax\CMDData\*.* --
\RightFax\Production\Bin\*.bat If the batch file has been customized
\RightFax\Production\Covers\*.* --
\RightFax\Production\Forms\*.* --
\RightFax\Production\Images\*.* --
\RightFax\Production\Include\*.* --
\RightFax\Production\xml\xsl\*.* If the XSL files have been customized
\RightFax\Production\xml\schemas\*.* If the XML schemas have been customized
\RightFax\RFBoard\ACTLOG.DAT Copy to \RFBoard only.
\RightFax\RFBoard\digital.cfg --
\RightFax\RFBoard\Boston\callctrl.cfg If present
\RightFax\RFBoard\Voices\*.* If you use the Docs-on-Demand, Human-answered Fax or Teleconnect module
and have created custom voice files
\RightFax\Sig\*.* If users have created graphic images of user signatures for placement on faxes
\RightFax\Bft\*.* If you have OCR documents or sent or received binary file transfers
\RightFax\Worksrv Caution: Do not copy any files from the WorkServer directory except OCR
routing files (such as Route.txt).

Step 9: On NT07 open a command prompt and Navigate to Program Files\RightFax\Database and run the command dbupgrader. When prompted choose Yes and all data will be imported into the new RightFax 9.3 Database.

Step 10: On NT05, open both the NT05 server and the NT07 server in Enterprise Fax Manager.
Drag-and-drop the dialing rules from the NT05 server to the NT07 server
Note: You will see the following error, which can be ignored. Click OK.
The servers (servername) and (servername) are running with different code pages.
Copying data between the servers may result in a loss of data where an object uses
characters only available in the source code page
Highlight Dialing Rules under NT07. Under the File menu, select Save Dialing plan.
The Prefix Tables cannot be drag-and-dropped like the dialing rules.
Prefix Tables must be re-created on the NT07 server. To ease the re-creation the
table entries can be copy-pasted from the NT05 server to the NT07 server.
Stop and start the DocTransport module.

Step 11: Migrate users using doing the drag and drop method in Step 11.

Step 12:
Simulating the Sending and Receiving of Faxes
To test the system, you can send and receive faxes in simulation mode.
TESTING FAX SENDING
A new transport type in the DocTransport module allows you to send faxes on simulated fax channels. To
set this up in the DocTransport module add a new transport and select the "Simulation" transport. You
can configure fax channels and global settings for the simulation.

Phase 3
This will take place the following Monday morning at VSI
Step 1: Install new RightFax client on users desktops and point them to NT07

In step 9, the DBUPGRADER takes care of creating user accounts with old settings and passwords, groups, printers, library docs, etc. This means step 11 is not needed.  You should really test  PSTN faxing  with inbound and outbound faxing from at least one workstation using new RF client and one PC with old RF client(v8.0).
