Strange problem. When media player is started by double-clicking a file it becomes invisible, for example if I double click an AVI file the I can hear the sound but I cannot see anything. Media Player is not visible anywhere on screen, nor is there anything on the taskbar just a blank desktop with the audio playing, but Media Player does appear in task manager.

If I start Media Player from the programs menu its fine, the issue only seems to occur when files are double clicked.

Media Player 11 on Vista Business.

when playing a double clicked avi check your process list (Press CTRL+SHIFT+Esc) for wmplayer.exe if it is not on the list make sure the avi files are associated with media player (right click an AVI file "Open With -> Choose Default Program" select "Windows Media Player" and make sure the tick box at the bottom is ticked.

if still no luck check Media Player Options ->Plugins and remove anything on the list you are able to remove - built in ones will not allow you to remove them.

I stopped grove monitor starting automatically and this seems to have cured the issue, re-enabled grove monitor and it is still fine - wierd - but it is cured - for now at least
