I have compiled a project on VS 2008 - how do i now deploy it to production server?

it is a web application - it was created by a colleauge who is away and I had to change a line of code before launch and after i changed the code I went to build -> build solution but I now understand i need to deploy it. He usually does it through command prompt and i am unsure what to type in the command prompt
