Connect user to mailbox from Mailbox Recovery Center

e are setting up a small test lab to duplicate our production environment. We have an Exchange 2003 server. We backed up the mail store from the production environment and successfully mounted it in our test lab. All the mailboxes are visible. When we connect a single mailbox to a user directly from the mail store, it works fine. When we try to connect a mailbox to a user (single or multiple) from the Mailbox Recovery Center, we receive "an unexpected error" at the end of the reconnect wizard. No events are logged on the DC's or Exchange server. We removed the Exchange attributes, but this didn't help.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Have you upgraded to SP2? This solved a lot of problems in that previous versions of the Recovery center had.  You could always try ADSIEdit to make sure the attributes are fully removed...  But, I wouldn't recommend that as you could cause irreparable damage. Easiest way would be to recreate the AD account without mail attributes then reconnect the mailbox.

Yes, we did install SP2. We manually attached the accounts, but it was a drag...
