Manager/designer cannot see design of Lotus Notes database.

Domino 7.  One person as manager can see the design of the database.  I put myself in as Manager, and I can't see the design.  If I make a replica, I get nothing.  Can't see the design.  So I assumed that someone had hidden the code.  But if I make a copy to my local machine, I can see the design and change it.

If I go in on the server and take administrative control, I can open the database in the designer, but none of the individual design documents are visible (in other words, I can see the heading for forms, but can't see any forms).

Any ideas?

From the ACL, select your name and check what is user type is? It should be Person and the below Access should be Manager. Make sure you are doing this on a server copy and not on a local or local replica copy.

My ACL settings are person/manager on the server.  Same as the person who can see the design.
do you have designer installed in your machine? Restart notes and see.
Yes.  I have designer installed on the machine.

In the Administration section of your person document in NAB (names.nsf on the server), make sure that the field entitled "Notes client license" is set to "Lotus Notes" and Designer.
if it is replica copies shouldn't be a problem.... as I said, you should be assigned a Designer license in the server NAB.
Just installing designer won't work.
For confirmation, open your mail db and open it in designer. Let me know if you can see design of your own mail db, where you have Manager access (I assume)
Not to be argumentative, but the replica names.nsf is the problem.  Once I put myself into the designer group in the second NAB, the problem with the database went away.  The server, oddly enough, seems to be looking at one replica for some databases and the other replica for other databases.  That's why deleting one might cause the server to get lost.

And there is no requirement that a person have a designer license setup in the server NAB.  In fact, you don't even have to a person document in a NAB to do design work on a server.  As far as I know, the only reason for that field in the person document is to allow administrators to track the # of licenses they have assigned using the license tracking database.

To access a server as a designer, you can just be in a group that has designer rights to the database, be in a group that access to the server, and be cross-certified. All of which are true in this case.
