Hello,

I would like to know if a distribution group can receive e-mails from external people.

If not, then what is the best method of a team receiving e-mails from external people?

Best Regards

You have to define an email address for that Distribution Group and then make it visible.
You can do this going to the Exchange Server, open up the Active Dir Users and Computers-> highlight the distribution group-> right click on Properties->then search through tabs from there and you can set few options like:
E-Mail Address
Exchange Advanced

Does Powershell have you tied up in knots?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

The other thing that would cause is if the group is set to require that all senders authenticate. If internal users can mail and external users can not then this sounds to me like teh cause.

Open ESM / Recipient Config / Distribution group right click your group and properties. Go to teh Mail Flow tab and go into Message delivery Restrictions and remove the tick from "Require that all senders authenticate" is unchecked.
