how do you back up the cognos fm model

Hi

I have been advised by a cognos expert that it is a good idea to back up the xml documents that make up the cognos fm model.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

An FM model effectively is composed of a .CPF file (the mastr file), several .XML files (of which "model.xml" is the most important), a "logs" directory (which stores a complete history of all changes made to the model) and possibly some other files used for store parameter map info.  IN general, you want to backup the entire directory.  All of these are just basic text files, so you can you whatever file backup utility you prefer.

Framework Manager also supports VSS and CVS, so you could use those programs to "back up" the model as well.

One note: don't put the model on a network drive.  Framework Manager assumes a direct, exclusive connection to the model files, and if something happens to that connection, it can corrupt the model.
