Deploying printers to Windows Vista SP1 via Group Policy Preferences.

I am trying to deploy printers to Windows Vista clients via Group Policy Preferences CSE. I have been able to do this successfully with Windows XP, but cannot with Vista. I am getting an errors for both printers I am trying to deploy which states.

The user 'tnit3c' preference item in the 'TC - GPP Drives and Printers - IT {837EC987-AF61-40E5-9559-AD97F54DC33B}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x8000ffff Catastrophic failure' This error was suppressed.

Subsequently, I do not have any printers.

Just to verify, which version of server are you running on your domain controllers? Are you running Windows Server 2003 R2?

Also, you can update your AD schema from the Windows Server 2008 media...

Domain Controllers - Windows 2003 R2
Schema has been extended for Vista, 2008, and Exchange 2007

Printers deploy fine to Windows XP clients but not Windows Vista.

I have looked at the discussion listed below and it does not pertain.

Don't use the GPP for printer deployment, use the native 2003 R2 printer deployment, maybe that works as expected.

My solution was in general:
User Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Control Panel >
Printers
Point and Print Restrictions: Disabled.

This policy you can tune to fit your enviroment
