MS Access 2007 Background color formating

I need to do conditional formatting of a text box background color depending on string content within the text. Access 2007 has a conditional format GUI which can only handle 3 conditions at a time. I have it working right now with three separate text boxes to accomodate the 7 conditions. Ideally I would have the conditional background right behind the text which is always in the same location. However the background formatted text boxes can not be placed in the same x-y location as only the box in the foreground would be displayed. So I have them sitting on either side of the page, spread out vertically next to the text.

Essentially I am looking for a cleaner and better solution possibly through code. As I am not a full fledge coder, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
