Home networking issues regarding limiting and or restricting access.

How do i restrict/limit internet access to a pc on my home network via a bt home hub? I am using vista 32 bit and the other pc is on xp home. The main aim is to limit my kids to access only at certain times of the day, ie at bed time the internet is no longer after say 10.30pm until 4.00pm the next day. Also can i control this from my laptop as i am the main user. All pc's are connected wireless. Two vista 32 bit and one xp home edition. (the two vista machines are both laptops, acer aspire 9813(main pc) and advent k100)
I would be gratefull for all advice.
Kind regards
Lee

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to set what you want up with your hub; I would suspect you'd need software to do what you're looking to do.

So I did a little searching around for software, and I can't seem to find any kind of software that does what you would like it to do.

My suggestion is to setup the computer you only want used at certain times of the day on a timer (it's a physical device you plug into the wall) and set it to only deliver power to the computer during the hours you designate.

It is possible to program such software, but unfortunately I can't seem to find software that does what you're asking. It would be as simple as writing a program that would disable port 80 (which is the default internet port) at a certain time of the day (by reading the system clock). And then re-enabling it at the designated time. Sadly, I'm not a programmer though.

Forgot to mention that all of these settings are configured simply by logging into http://uk.security.yahoo.com/protect-your-family/ using your master BT account.  You can change from any location that you access the internet
I can highly recommend CyberPartol.  Easy tio install and configure.  You can set access times, set content filtering, etc.  Cheak, easy and works well.  Simply install on the Kids computer, and set the options.
