paid secure downloads?

im working on a website for a friend who is supply a service for customers which has a few options. The main option im seeking advice on is the option for paying customers to download some forms , which im proposing be in PDF format that can only be printed.

I was curious if there was a way for me to insert a web order/reference number onto the form at all and how easy it would be to achive. I have seen some pdf printer type programs and also some executable version that can join pdfs together etc.

I would also like to know if its possible to protect the downloads with a generated URL of some kind, to stop customers from simply using the forms after a certain time/date and also forwarding them onto friends etc for them to use without paying for the downloads.

securing the document(s) is not a major major thing, but I would like to deter customers from forwarding the email contents and attachments on to others and im guessing the best way to do this would be via a download URL link that expiries after a set time, ie 14days

Is there anyway to deter casual copying of website source code, I assume php is less likely to be an issue as its parsed by the server?

any suggestions for processing payments ? i heard protx are supposed to be more competative than some gateways like worldpay or paypal, but have hidden catches with bankwire setups etc......

you need to get a gateway (which costs money). there's really no way around that. Only the gateways can process credit card transactions. That's really a separate issue for that matter than the issue of making the files only temporarily downloadable.
