How do I stop all these IUSR_computername logon failures? What do they mean?

We keep getting a lot of IUSR_computername errors (where computername is our server's name) on one of our client's servers. The admin there stated the following:

"I made some changes to the user profile to never expire and it created problems and then I went back in and change and had to set a new password.  OWA did not work until a set a new password.  Everything seem to be working but I still seeing a significant number of login in failures?"

We advised him that perhaps he should change the "Log On As" area for the IIS service to logon as IUSR_computername and the new password he set but he still sees these errors. Can anyone shed any light on this?
