You need to do something like the following for that particular list:

ul { list-style-image: url("/images/arrow.gif") }

Open in new window

Forgot to add that you'd put this in your stylesheet.  If you didn't want it to be a global change (for all bullets), you'd give that particular list an id or class name and add it to your stylesheet as follows:

#mylist { list-style-image: url("/images/arrow.gif") }

/* where #mylist is the id of that particular <ul> you are changing
If using a class...then it would be .mylist instead of .mylist */

Open in new window

Hi thanks for your reply, i would like it to be global,

I have gone to the template and edit css and it pops up with various different files and i dont know which one to edit or where to place the line? Can you help?

                                                      editor.css

editor_content.css
extensions.css
general.css
 ie6hacks.css
 ie7hacks.css
 iehacks.css
 joomla.css
 layout.css
 menus.css
 modules.css
You should be able to add it directly from the Joomla admin area by going to the template editor and adding it to the CSS for that particular template you're using.

If you're using Joomla 1.5 or higher...go to:

Extensions > Template Manager > click the radio next to your template > click edit button in top right corner > Then click the 'edit css' in top right corner > then choose which style (probably named template.css) and edit again.

Just add the code from above to the stylesheet...though make sure you have the right path to the image.  It might just be easier to put the absolute url to where you uploaded it (ie: http://yoursite.com/images/my_bullet.gif).
