Intel Matrix Storage Management update fail with Error message, Iaanotif.exe / IDSI.dll

Hi,
one of sbs2003 box came with raid tech.
the IMSM (Inter Matrix Storage Management) version was 5.0 came with cd driver disc
we tried & installed an update version of 8.0 (IMSM) but the installation has failed
now, every time we log in, there's an error message pop-up...
-----

the error message was: (from the pop-up banner title...)
iaanotif.exe - unable to locate component
(from the banner content box)
this application has fail to start because ISDI.dll was not found.reinstall the program may fix the problem...

---

well....reinstalling the program "didn't" fix a problem because it still say installation finish unsuccessful... (even the original version came with cd driver disc)
I searched all over E.E and google. can't find anything to resolve the issue.

any experts has an experience on this and offer their fix/solution/recommendation?
please reply
thanks!
sam

ASKER

my chipset version is 945 express family
  • BOXD945GNTLKR
Single box; Gigabit LAN; DDR2 memory support; Integrated audio and video; Serial ATA supporting Intel® Matrix Storage Technology; IEEE 1394; TPM

----
if that's the case, there's no way to roll-back or reinstalling the older version any more...
that's bad!@

I will try the 7.0 version & will get back to you
mean time, please give/provide any update / comment if any...
thank you very much!

Sam
Solution:
Locate missing file name "ISDI.dll" from any other computer/workstation equipped with Intel Raid Tech / Intel Matrix Storage Management application copy / paste file name above from and to the location:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTEL\INTEL MATRIX STORAGE MANAGEMENT\

error message box pop-up went away

Problem solved!

when you asked "Driver" do you ask of hardware driver or IMSM driver? (see IMSM driver version answered below)

what happened to me now was that...

even though the error message has gone away after i copied one of the .dll file from different server to this server*(Iaanoti.exe / ISDI.dll)*

(version 5.1 from error message server / version 7.8 from working server)*

Intel Storage Manager is an application, one of feature is for user to view the health status of hardware RAID drives. Other would be to identify the role / setup / model / controller ID line up and more... i.e

the HW. Raid driver from Intel motherBoard's hardware controller has to be install initially when setting up the RAID tech. while installing windows O/S (by pressing F6 - install drivers from floppy disk drive)

whether or not user install or uninstall in order to upgrade IMSM (Inter Matrix Storage Management) application has nothing to do with causing problem for ANY windows O/S...Since there's only one way to crash the RAID drives by going into system devices property and uninstall the RAID controller and that's quite impossible to think that anyone would do something like that?!

I will leave this open then...
I do expect a solution / methods beside any other - more questions

thank you!

RockChalk:
here's the simple answer of all after what was done to replaced and fixed.

the IMSM application still shown IAANTmon.exe not responding when tried to log off and had to "end task" to completed log off process from SBS2003 Box

there's no drivers issue from RAID controller and there's no reason to update/upgrade driver for this now. but thanks for the detail in your respond, I appreciated!

your last resource/method to save this IMSM application., which I need to confirm before I put the process in reality. so,
please clarify...
1) stop (end process) on these two file instances (or one...)
IAAnotif.exe & IAANTmon.exe (should stop the IAANTmon.exe anyway)
2) copy the entire files under, from program files\intel\IMSM folder and paste onto the same directory on another server
3) do I restart the the task file and how? and what about the " registry" that you bought into along with subject but nothing mention on how to work on it?
that means, how to start the service again?
please response
thanks!
Sam

BTW,
do you agree if the right way to upgrade to another version of IMSM is to uninstall the old version, restart and install the new version?

or do I just stop / kill the process (by ending the IAAnotify / IAANTmon processes) and run the setup.exe from the newer version?

thanks for your expert response on this question / answer

here's the final update for this question - answer

first, I want to say that I appreciated your hard work and keeping me trying harder...
I have learned more than a answer from you on this question tonight

the solution you provided was the only method - way to resolve the issue.
Except... I took the liberty to run a fresh install on the newer version of 8.0+ while killed / end process on IAAnotif.exe / IAANTmon.exe on the Intel Matrix Storage Management!

it was a smooth and happy setup/install - successful of IMSM application upgrade from 5.1 to 8.0 (or 8.2) and also perform a restarting the server and everything are working properly.

thank you for trying so hard for me on this question and you have no idea how grateful I am...
Have a great evening
Sam
