My IP is listed in the DNSBL Blacklist for IP address, but I am not a spammer, how do I protest this?

One of my IP addresses seems to be added to the DNSBL Blacklist and some email servers are rejecting my email because our IP is added to this list. It's not added to any of the other lists but it is added to DNSBL, how does one go about asking them to remove our IP address?

Hi,

You will have to make sure that your SMTP Server is not acting as an "Open Relay"

Also, you need to find out which RBL are you listed on. Once you find that you will find on their website how to request for unblocking,

But I would sugest a faster way is to change the Public IP and the respective MX Records for that domain and make sure that your Server is not an Open Relay (secure it)

Hope this helps

Thanks
Nitin
You may also want to head over to dnsbl.com, and search your IP Address there. After you have done that, then look on the list, and see if you are "LISTED". Then click the link on the same line, and contact them.
Knowing why you were listed is the most important thing - give us your IP (which I can remove when the question is closed) and we can test it for you

I forgot about this. If you currently use Time Warner Cable, Charter, DSL of any kind. Your IP's GeoLocation would be formatted, to the server. So all these carriers are basically giving away the same IP Address twice, which I don't even think it's possible. It's like this to me, it says that mine is in North Carolina, Winston Salem.

See, you have invested more than 48 hrs already on this, assuming it is still a problem. Had you changed your IP/MX etc and had worked on Securing your Sever (that eventually you will have to do, otherwise no matter how many times you get it unblocked it will block again), by now you would have been partying somewhere and your new MX records would have replicated to all DNS servers worldwide easily.

I agree with what the gentleman have been saying, Get it unblocked, but from a pacticality point of you, I always suggest CHANGE & SECURE !!!

Server is already secure and setup properly. Actaully I was only listed with 3 companies, and found out why. The idiots just block an entire block of addresses given out by my NATIONWIDE ISp provider in Japan. Easy enough to fix just plain annoying to block a entire block of network addresses for no particular reason.

I used DNSstuff to check for blacklisted IPs and got the links to those sites from there and filled out their removal form, everything should be cool in 24-48 hours. THanks for all that helped.

on a side note, if someone is buddy buddy with someone that works at experts-exchange tell them their new post comment section text block is a piece of sh**, its really enough when I have the third sentence typeed up and the text is still on the first sentence. I have never seen such a slow and pathetic word type editor in a webpage before. It this done on purpose to limit how much users write. Because if thats teh case, I will just write all my questions in Notepad and then just copy and paste them. but still froim a customer standpoint this is really annoying and is not an improvement from any aspect! What are you thiikning expert-exchange, unless this is caused because of firefox 3, im too lazy to check it in IE.
Everyone thanks for your input. I will aware TekServer as he pointed out that DNS stuff already had this feature and I have an accou nwith them. This solved my problem in no more than 15 minutes (time to fill out the three different company forms)
Oh, I should mention, the new RTF input is being worked on - there is a patch due out shortly which should resolve a lot of issues
Glad I could help!  :)

I've noticed the new text input box "has some issues".  I suppose the possibility of doing some formatting on the input has potential, but I'm definitely looking forward to the patch kieran mentioned.
One thing I've noticed that's an irritant, if minor - if you click anywhere in the text box except where there's preexisting text, the "blinking bar" text cursor disappears!  Call me OCD (others do, with some justification), but I've grown accustomed to seeing that blinking vertical bar.

:)
