Sender Email Address will not update in Exchange 2003 on SBS 2003
We have just set up a new domain which is to be the primary domain, we still want mail for the old domain to go to the relevant client. I have tried the recipient policy and set the new domain addresses as primary but no matter what I try, when I send email from any of my clients to my hotmail account to test it the sender address stays as the old domain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
ASKER
Yes, I applied the policy and yes, the users addresses were updated. I have followed no end of on-line tutorials with no success.

The other thing I have noticed is that once I apply the policy incoming mail fails.
ASKER
Sorry, I meant outgoing mail fails.
what error do you get when the mail fails?
ASKER
No error. The mail never reaches the destination address.
are you talking about internal email or external email?
have you removed the old smtp domain from the policy?

so when the new smtp domain address is set as primary, you are not able to send out emails?
are you able to receive emails?
how is external email configured?

I am able to receive mail OK. It is when I set the new domain as primary and update the policy. What details do you need about the configuration ?
about how the mail flow is configured.
is there any smart host that sends the email out?
the emails that you send out using the new domain as primary address, are they stuck in any of the exchange queues?
