unable to remove "log on using dial-up connection" on Windows login
I previously had this computer setup so that it would automatically force the user to choose a VPN "dial up" connection before it logged into Windows. The only connection I created was a VPN connection back to the main office. Now, we have a new ISP at the home office and this remote computer is not able to log in to Windows because it is forcing me to use a dial up connection that has the old IP address.
The option to uncheck "log on using dial-up connection" is grayed out, even in safe mode.
I have no option to create a new dial up connection.
I can not log on locally without it forcing me to use the dial up connection as well.
I'm kind of stuck!

Thanks but even in safe mode it will not let me log into Windows.
I am not sure I understand what you mean when you say ' ...........even in safe mode, it will not let me log into Windows". Is the system hung ? What happens when you choose to boot into 'Safe Mode' ?
ASKER
When I get into Safe Mode it gives me the same problem I have when I log in regularly. The dial up connection is grayed out and when I enter my username and password, press OK, it tries to connect using the dial up connection.
can you upload a snapshot of your log on screen ? Maybe, taken using your mobile phone ?
ASKER
what happens when you select to log on to the local machine and log in with the local admin account?
ASKER
it immediately brings up the Network Connections screen and asks me to choose a dial up connection. It only allows me to hit Connect or Cancel and there is no place to enter a new network connection.

The other computer will not let me connect to a remote computer. When I follow the above steps and click "Connect network Registry" it gives me the following error:
"The program cannot open the required dialogue box because no locations can be found. Close this message and try again."
"The program cannot open the required dialogue box because no locations can be found. Close this message and try again."
are you the domain admin
do you have remote desktop setup on that machine?
ASKER
The computer is being delivered to my office tomorrow. I will try to use ERD to get into the registry.
I am the domain admin. Remote desktop is not setup on the computer.
I will give an update tomorrow.
