Unable to read USB external drive
I had an extenal USB drive that was hooked up to a PC that got hit by a power outage. Now I am unable to read (even see) any of the files on the drive.  The drive is turning and is recognized by Windows.  How do I recover the directory for the drive so I can see the files?  Formatted with FAT32.

The best place to start is to go to tools under the properties of the drive and check it for errors.

If you can't see the drive, go to Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management

And go to the "Disk Management" section under "Storage". See if you can see the drive there. If you can, maybe you can assign it a drive letter (right click, click "Change Drive Letter and Paths...")

If not there's a good chance it's gone.

Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. In addition to local storage devices like CD and DVD readers, hard drives and flash drives, solid state drives can hold enormous amounts of data in a very small device. Cloud services and other new forms of remote storage also add to the capacity of devices and their ability to access more data without building additional data storage into a device.
