Start Norton LiveUpdate either from the main Norton/Symantec window or from the Start menu in the Norton or Symantec folder.

At the top of the LiveUpdate window click Options ->Configure. Go to the ISP tab and make sure there is a tick in the "Donot manage my dialup connections" box.Click OK and click Next in LiveUpdate

we're using 9.0 version and when I get into liveupdate window -> options, there are only 2 items like:
report liveupdate error and about liveupdate.
Glancing through your HijackThis log everything looks fine. Follow this link (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/7e7f15291a25d938882567e50048a048/172eb97750657f9388256d8f007778c7?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam&seg=hm) and try what Symantec recommends. Let me know if this works or not.

have you restarted the machine that is having this issue?
also is this a nav client or nav server?
Just tried what sobe 21 told but nothing help.
here  what error message saying: Initializing...
Unable to connect to host
LU1814: LiveUpdate could not retrieve the catalog file of available Symantec product and component updates. Please verify that you are able to connect to the Internet and run LiveUpdate again.
LiveUpdate session is complete.

I reboot machine but it didn't work.
