Broadcom internal bluetooth driver installed ok but no "Buke Devices"

I have an Acer Aspire 2920. I installed xp sp3 (originally it had vista) All seems to work fine except that that Broadcom bluetooth which appears installed in the system hardware does not appear in the sysem tray or in the Control Panel "Bluetooth Devices". Mh...

I have seen many links and references. Some point to C:\drivers\win\BDCACT.. I am
unable to find it!!!

Any ideas?

I could only find an Aspire 2020 - and with that model, you should have a Bluetooth button if you have bluetooth installed/activated in your laptop.
This is located on the front of the computer - beneath the latch that you use to open the screen.
I know that this is a simple thing to ask - but is the button switched on - and the associated light?

It is... if it is off it does not appear in the system hardware
Okay - apologies for the confusion.
Sometimes - as there doesn't seem to be a Microsoft recognised standard for Bluetooth drivers - Windows will install its own - and overwrite the third-party vendor's ones. This normally means that bluetooth does not work as it is supposed to. Can you verify if Broadcom drivers are loaded in Device Manager - and if they are not - update them with the Broadcom ones. You might have to use the "I will specifiy a driver"\"Have disk" option to "force" Windows to install the correct drivers.

Enable the Bluetooth icon in Control panel (btcpl.cpl) using the above tool.

Additional solution -

Running XP Pro on Acer Aspire One netbook.  Added Broadcom 2046 USB Bluetooth radio.  Didn't install any Broadcom software or drivers, as was under the impression that XP SP2 had BT support.  It used a default Broadcom BT device driver from 2007, so device was in device manager, but no BT service or Bluetooth in control panel/system tray.

Opened device manager and updated driver, allowing XP to search online.  It found and installed driver version 6.1.0.4100 for Broadcom 2046 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Dongle WITH FIRST CONNECT (caps for the new part of the name).

On restart, this driver loaded and all's good - BT control panel, BT services, BT tray.

Hope this helps.
