Transfer Primary DC roles to Secondary DC.

Last Modified: 2009-08-30
Hi, everyone I know this kind of questions has probably been answered in past and I have searched through lots of question like this but I am not sure so please if someone can help me.
Currently I have two windows 2003 servers:
1. DC1 (Primary)
2. DC2 (Secondary or Backup)
3. DHCP is provided by Firewall
I can go into secondary DC and open DNS, AD Sites and services, Doamin and Trust same as Primary
Currently associates can login to both server for authentication, in past I have brought Primary DC (DC1) down for testing and associates were able to login via Secondary DC (DC2).
Due to recurring hard drive issues on Primary DC, I like to transfer all the roles of Domain Controller to my secondary DC, and then make current Primary DC to Secondary or Backup DC. I like to do this now while Primary DC (DC1) is still running and operational, never know when will it fail.

Can some one please help me with this by providing step -by-step instructions on how I can accomplish this. I do not have any test environment, thats why I am little bit worried.

Thank you in advance for everyone's help  and input.
