Intermittent VPN Connection

I have a user that needs to be able to VPN into our network to work.  He used to have a Sonicwall Tele3 but it got fried.  I replaced it with a TZ150, but the user could not get that to work, so hardware isn't really an option.  I gave him Sonicwall Global VPN software and he set it up.  He is able to get a connection to our network and see the resources he needs but the connection drops intermittently.  When the connection drops, he can still access the internet, so his local network connection is fine.  We have multiple users that are able to connect without a problem.  He is running Windows 2000 with all the updates.  Any help is appreciated.

1) DId you check the event Logs ?

2) Have you run a Hijackthis ver 2.0x list for any malware or programs that might interfere with the VPN ?
