Event Log Errors on Live Communications Server 2005 Home Server

We are a large enterprise.  Currently have Live Communications 2005 Server platform based on Standard version of software with three servers (Home, Director and Acees Proxy) servers.   Host less then 600 users.  Attached file displays three application event ID's we are getting, (30120, 30616, 30905).  When we do get them users are unable to login or send/receive.  This happens every couple of days and then I have to reboot the Home server to clear up the issue and then its good for another few days.   If you view KB article 945057 it pretty much describes the behavior I am seeing.   This KB can only be installed if you are on SP1 and it does not appear our LCS platform is 2005 SP1.  Planning on upgrading and and then installing hotfix specified in KB 845057.   Just wanted to know if anyone else has run into this issue and what you may have done to resolve it.   Please look at the screen shots I've attached also.

Yes in fact you need to install Service Pack 1 and then the Hotfix KB 845057. This will resolve your issue. But consider to upgrade your whole infrastructure to LCS2007 as it gives you much more benefits and functions than LCS2005 did.

Thanks for your comment.   I am already researching OCS 2007 and putting together a plan to upgrade and migrate to the new platform.   That won't happen for several months yet.   So I have to stabalize our current LCS 2005 platform and get rid of these not responding issues and the Event errors I included in the attachment on this question.    Have actually experienced this problem I mention here and resolved the Event ID's and the server not responding as I have described and documented in the attachment I have included ?    Please note, I had also previously installed Hotfix  911268 which deals with a fix for the OS on an LCS 2005 server not responding also (it basically updated an RPC file).
Wow,
ok. Pls. Make sure that you have installed Windows Server SP2 on all your LiveCom-Servers. Hotfix 911268 is a pre SP2 hotfix. You are far behind in security with this servers if you haven't already installed SP2. In SP2 KB911268 is already included. So after that you can safely install SP1 for LCS2005 if you haven't already? (Doc already shows SP1 ResourceKit?) And any mentioned hotfixes.

I had thought previous engineer who worked with us had installed LCS 2005 SP1 on these servers but apparently it wasn't.   The Resource kit got installed though for some reason.   Are you saying that WIN2K3 SP2 is a prerequisite to installing LCS 2005 SP1 ?

No, it is not, but a matter of security. You should not have servers who interact with the internet direct or non-direct with old ServicePack and security-level.

I will be upgrading our LCS 2005 Standard Edition Home, Director and Access Proxy servers tonight to push them to LCS 2005 SP1 and installing the Hotfix that addresses the not responding issue with the servers.    Our server team verified that the WIN2K3 SP1 OS on these servers is patched up to the latest and greatest other then SP2.   So we should be good.   Next comment I provide will be on results of the upgrade.

Well I got LCS 2005 SP1 installed OK and everything is working.  But I wanted to install Hotfix 921543 but it stated you had to have Hotfix 911996 installed first.   So I tried to install Hotfix KB911996 and it would just hang at "Stopping Services" for the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service.  It just stayed there for the longest time and I finally just had to cancel the Hotfix install.   I will have to test this further in our Lab and investigate.   We'll see if just the SP1 portion helps with stabalizing the issue I am having.   More on this later.......

Thanks for the advice.  I will try that next time and test this also on our Lab LCS server.  This probably won't get done now until August 1st since the only time I can schedule a change like this is on a Friday or Saturday during our Change Window.   I will keep you posted.

I was able to successfully install  KB911996 and KB921543 hotfixes on both of our LCS 2005 front end servers.   Had to stop the WMI service and the LCS services beforehand by disabling them and then rebooting the server before starting the Hotfix install.   Was the only way I could get the services stopped cleanly.    Installed on August 1st.   Monitoring now for a couple of weeks to see if we continue to get these errors or issues continue with same symptoms.   If not I will close this case and award OXP the points for the solution to this issue.    Thanks for your input
You're welcome!

Been up and running OK for 1 week now.   Giving it until the end of this week 15AUG08 and then will award points to OXP.

It has now been over two weeks since I applied SP1, and the the hotfixes and everything appears to be working fine now.   Have not had a repeat of the issues I had seen in the past.    I am going to close this question and award OXP the points for the question.    Thanks
