I would like to implement a policy to disable the system from archiving in Outlook 2003 using a Group policy.
1) I have implemented the Outlook "Outlk.adm" and followed the article #1800462118 and that did not work.
2)I went into group policy and under options i checked "disable Archiving" and this did not work.
Any ideas how to prevent the local system from running the auto archive in Outlook2003?

Where under group polciy did you disable it?
Also run the gpresults wizard to see if the policy is actually applying to the right OU.
I assume you link the GPO to an OU where the computers reside right?

What i did is the following:
Created new OU and named it TEST
put 2 users under test.
Created a new GP and called it "Disable autoArchive"
User Configuration---->ADM Templates---->Microsoft Office outlook 2003---->Tools/options----->Other---->AutoArchive---->AutoArchiveSettings set to "Disabled'
Then Disabled Computer Config settings is set to disabled.

OK thats right, either the adm is not right or the policy isnt applying.
Now you linked the the GPO to ;'TEST' right?
Can you run the group policy modeling wizard and see whats happening?
Now lets fine tune testing a little more.
In the gpo you created for the AA setting make a change to something else in it like remove icon from desktop or whatever. Just to see if the policy applies as intended.
If it does then we know its something to do with the .adm file
Now after you make the change to test dont forget to run gpupdate /force then reboot a workstation
The outlk12.adm worked with Outlook 2007 but not with Outlook 2003.
I re-enabled "Outlk11.Adm" and tested the policy with Outlook 2003. The result is the user can click on File--->archive. Then the archive folder is created and then it dissappears. Is that what it is supposed to do? It seems to work although not what I would have expected. I would have thought the the archive setting would be greyed out.
Any thoughts on this?
