Transparent firewall

I have a Cisco 851 that I would like to use as a transparent firewall.  I have been working with Cisco on setting this up, but they don't seem to know how.

I want a set up that filters packets on a network, but does not behave as a router.  This way I can place a device behind it and filter traffic, but not need to use a different IP than the client side of the network.  The device would be more like a bridge than a router.

Has anyone done this before?  Can it be done with a Cisco 851?  Any example configurations?
