asked on

default profiles and outlook on terminal server

I have 2 terminal servers that have outlook 2003 running on them. I got the default profile working and I have redirected the profiles to a file server. my question is....

how do I make it so that if a new user connects without a profile created, his/her outlook settings are pre-configured? aka server address and username?

create a profile that you want, then copy that profile to Default User.  You can't be either user when copying.

right but if I put in my server address and my user name, those settings will be saved and the profile I am copying will contain the wrong information. a new user will logon and will be prompted for whatever username's mailbox I added into outlook.

ok thanks I got it working using the PRF file. I added a shortcut to the user's desktop for outlook and added  /importprf \\exch3\userdata\defaultprofile.PRF. the profile is generated. The only question I have is in the links I was sent one of the users suggested to add BackupProfile=No to the PRF file. I only want to create the profile 1 time and store it in the user's redirected profile directory. if I let this user use this icon as his/her main icon for outlook will the outlook profile be recreated everytime they open outlook?

[General]
BackupProfile=No
Custom=1
ProfileName=%Username%
DefaultProfile=Yes
OverwriteProfile=Yes
ModifyDefaultProfileIfPresent=FALSE
