Exchange 2007 Cluster Design help very needed ?
I have an Exchange 2007 CAS/HUB server with a 2 CCR Mailbox role cluster
servers at my main office.
The company wants be to setup redundancy with a COLO connected with a VPN.
The COLO is on a different subnet. The Active Directory is setup with a PDC
in one site at the main office and the other Domain controller is a Global
Catalog at the COLO, they are both DNS servers in 2 different AD Sites on
the same domain.
I plan to setup a second VPN pipe just for the 10.x heartbeat for the 2
cluster servers to be geographically dispersed at the two different
subnet's.
Before I move the passive node cluster server to the COLO and re-IP my cluster I need to confirm with an expert it is the right thing to do; I hope I am not trying something new that
can't be done. I'm finding difficult to find technet articles and Exchange blogs related to this design,
I am also planning to add a 2nd CAS\HUB server for redundancy at the COLO as well.
Can anyone tell me how this can be done or they know it can be done ?

Are you moving the mailbox server to the second site in the CCR configuration. If so, please check bcos the other site needs to be in the same Ip subnet and in the same Ad site as the first one for CCR to work on windows 2003. (geographically dispersed clusters need to be on the same subnet). Instead you can have a SCR configured.

Yes, I am moving the mailbox server to the second site in the CCR configuration. It will be on a differnet subnet and different AD site in the same domain. I did think MS would design the CCR to be work like that, but I am finding out different. Is my only option is spanning the same AD site and subnet across the VPN from the main office to the COLO.
