2. netmask - this is like the subnet mask of a network<br />
3. gateway - i dont know to explain this.. =)<br />
4. interface - the NIC connected to the network<br />
5. metric - shows the reliablity level of the connection, the lower the level, the better<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;( 1 means you are dirrectly connected )

1) What is the meaning of the 3 columns of milli-seconds ? &nbsp;(what is the meaning of each and why 3 columns there)<br />
2) Why sometimes some rows are all &quot;**&quot;?<br />
3) Is the row with largest ms is the problematic one?<br />

There are three columns since, tracert will send a'ping' three times so you can see if the behaviour is consistant. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
A star usually means that tracert did not recieve a response from this hop usually because the gateway or device does not respond to ICMP protocol a number of firewall products will do this be default, its also common on the internet and is not usually an indication of failure in itself.<br />
<br />
The longest ping can be source of your issue if it is longer than expected. But you need to take into consideration the distance and hardware it travels along eg you can usually expect a ping of at least a few hundred ms if your traveling to a different continent for example.<br />
<br />
pathping often provides more usefull infomation than tracert and is also a standard windows compand used in the same way.<br />
