I'm having the same results, sharepoint creating database in the previous sql server default location, even after I changed the sql server default location to create the databases.<br />

Ok so here it goes.<br />
I need to change the default location of the .mdf and log files for MOSS 07.<br />
I have changed it in SQL server Management studio and have tested this by creating a test database which works like I should be.<br />
However when I create a new database in MOSS it continues to create it in the old location c:\blahblah.<br />
THis is a problem as c:\ is a small 30G partition and have now run out of room because I didnt think about default location. (its cool, I know how to move the databases).<br />
