Installation and Printing Issues for HP Laserjet P1005

HP Laserjet P1005 printer purchased in Israel would not install correctly on HP 6715b running Windows Vista Business.  Contacted HP Support and ran through various steps including uninstall / reinstall of software and of USB Ports, change of cables etc. No matter what I tried, the laptop would not recognise the printer.

Then tried installing on a Dell Inspiron 6400.  The installation went more smoothly and the printer was recognised, but when ever you try to print a test page (or any page) it just sticks in the queue.

HP's latest resolution was to connect the printer via a hub because this printer uses a larger than normal amount of power...  Its one of the most basic printers i have come across in years so i don't think so.  Regardless, they have now said it could be the usb port on the printer.  Before i ship it back to where it came from, does anyone have alternative suggestions / reasons for these issues?

Thanks for your help.  HP finally agreed to collect the printer, lets see when they show up.

Printers and Scanners

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.
