the reason is that xp doesnt have any native sata drivers and your machine is likely to have a SATA drive, apologies if thats not teh case but you will need to build a slipstream xp install disk which includes the SATA drivers so that xp recognises the driver<br />

ok for the xp installation i have disabled the SATA suppot from the bios.<br />
the setup ran through up until where it has to reboot after copying the files.<br />

this is where a get an error &quot;invalid partition table&quot;.<br />
<br />
btw i did same process for my system and it worked fine. &nbsp;

hmm it could be that xp isnt reconising teh partition as active or the boot record has become corrupt.<br />

try running fixmbr from teh recovery console<br />
<br />
if that doesnt work take a look at parttion logic<br />

might be you need to activate the partition in there but fixmbr will likely work

Oh and by turning off the sata support you dont get &nbsp;the full benefits of using a sata drive, Id recommend building the xp slipstream disk to optomise your machine

insert your windows xp CD and press F6 when it shows up below on the screen....something for RAID stuff....and a bit ahead you will be prompt for your SATA drivers, insert a 3 1/2 floppy disk with the sata drivers...and done..format the driver with a fresh installation..<br />
PS..copy the SATA drivers into floppy disk, the ones of your PC..<br />

I have tried reinstalling windows, when i did this there was only one partition available which the size of the whole drive so the recovery partition is gone.<br />
